was charted on May 9, 1998, in Irmo, South Carolina. UOO continues to plan and implement programs responsive to the needs of the local community through educational enrichment, health promotion, family strengthening, environmental ownership, and global impact.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was founded on the campus of Howard University on January 15, 1908. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority was founded to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be supreme in service to all mankind.The sorority is composed of ten regions, including the international region. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is dedicated to improving our communities through various programs to target the needs of our local communities.
